Sarah Hilworth joins the Olds College Broncos as the inaugural head coach of the newly formed ACAC women’s hockey program.
Prior to Olds College, Hilworth returned to her alma mater to serve as an assistant coach with the University of Alberta for two years under the direction of head coach Howie Draper. Hilworth helped lead the Pandas to two first place finishes and their 13thCanada West title in 2015.
As a player, Hilworth came to the University of Alberta after a successful career with the Pacific Steelers from Vancouver, BC. As a part of the Pandas Hockey team, she finished top 10 in Canada West scoring in 3 out of 5 seasons with the, finishing with 100 points (50 Goals, 50 Assists) in 100 Games.
Hilworth was named Pandas assistant captain in her fourth year and captain in her fifth and was a part of the 2009-2010 National Championship winning team. Hilworth graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Arts in Sport, Recreation, and Tourism.
Sarah has proven to be as passionate about coaching as she was as a player. She is committed to helping young players excel through sharing her extensive experience in female hockey, her outstanding work ethic and undying desire to achieve.
Along with her passion to enhance the well being of players across the province, Sarah has devoted her effort to enhancing the community connection within the Pandas Hockey organization. Her passion for community connection and volunteerism stems largely from the influence from her mother, who passed away from Ovarian Cancer in 2011.
Sarah was able to honor her mother by organizing a subsequent fundraiser game where she was able to fundraise over $4000 for Ovarian Cancer Canada. In total, Sarah has organized three charity hockey games that benefitted the Zebra Child Protection Centre in Edmonton, and 2 years partnering with the Ovarian Cancer Canada organization raising close to $10,000 in three years for these organizations.
