BOSTON – Senior Steven Whitney recorded three points, including the game-winning goal late in the second period. Sophomore Johnny Gaudreau scored twice and tallied an assist and senior goaltender Parker Milner recorded 20 saves to lead Boston College to a 6-3 win against Northeastern to capture its fourth consecutive Beanpot title before a sellout crowd of 17,565 fans at TD Garden.

The victory marked the Eagles’ 18th Beanpot title and seventh under head coach Jerry York. Additionally, the victory marked the first time a Boston College class has won four titles in their four years. Patch Alber, Brooks Dyroff, Milner, Pat Mullane, Whitney and manager Tom Maguire concluded a perfect 8-0 in Beanpot play.

“I am so incredibly proud of our club but specifically our senior class and our captains,” York said. “They are model citizens for BC hockey.”

Bill Arnold’s 11th goal of the season broke the deadlock at 10:53 of the second period as he one-timed a feed from Kevin Hayes to put the Eagles up 1-0.

Gaudreau tacked on another goal just 1:15 later as he stuffed a goal mouth drive under the pad of Rawlings to give BC a 2-0 lead. The goal was Gaudreau’s 14th of the season and third career Beanpot goal.

The Huskies cut the deficit in half just three minutes later as Kevin Roy beat Milner on a wrist shot from the top of the slot for his fourth goal of the tournament. Roy had a clear breakaway on the next shift but his backhand deke was denied by Milner’s glove to keep the BC lead at 2-1.

With the period winding down, the Eagles got insurance as Patrick Brown deflected Isaac MacLeod’s point shot just over the goal line for his fourth goal of the season at 18:37. BC wasn’t finished as Whitney buried a rebound of his own shot with 0.4 seconds remaining in the middle stanza to give the Eagles a 4-1 lead heading into the locker room.

“For our seniors, we are all so excited. This is awesome for us, and it’s awesome that we all did it together,” Whitney said.
