Recently, AthleticHub.com had to opportunity to speak with former NCAA All-American Defenseman Annie Guay to talk about her University experience as well as the difficulties that arise for athletes who come from a small town. Annie Guay, former Canadian National Team member played for the Saint Lawerence Saints a Division 1 Women’s Hockey Team who competes in the ECAC division. Annie was part of the SLU program from 2004-2008 and was team captain in her senior year. Following her University career, Guay joined the Montreal Stars of the CWHL for 3 seasons before deciding to return home to Rouyn-Noranda to start her working career. Annie offers a lot of insight regarding the recruiting process, specifically for those of you coming from a small towns where getting identified by top scouts may be more difficult when compared with student-athletes growing up in a more urban environment.
